Mucheke, who is also the Member of County Assembly for Kalimoni Ward, was attacked while leaving Mai-A-Ihii School Grounds in Karai Ward, where Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi was issuing bursary cheques.

Who attacked Godfrey Mucheke?

He was pelted with stones by suspected goons who were reportedly hired to disrupt the event.

“The event was peaceful until the goons invaded the area. Stones were pelted at Mucheke, who sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Kikuyu for treatment,” said an MCA who witnessed the incident.

Photos circulating online showed his car with a badly damaged window and a stone on the front seat. He was also pictured in a hospital bed.

Unconfirmed reports state that the police failed to provide security for the function despite a formal request by the county government.

Their alleged inaction left leaders and residents exposed to chaos and violence.

Wamatangi, who is yet to comment on the incident, stated that beneficiaries of their scholarship programme received between KSh 5,000 and KSh 10,000 while others got full scholarships.

During the event, Mucheke praised Wamatangi’s education initiatives, which include school construction, playground development, and a reliable feeding programme.

He asked the residents to re-elect the governor, citing his service to the electorate.

“There are ECD schools that have been built. These schools have classrooms, teachers’ offices, and playgrounds for children. Those children are given a cup of porridge every morning and every Thursday, a boiled egg. For three years now, each school has been receiving KSh 512. Is that a governor to play with?” he asked.
