Eric, a resident of Valley Hills on 4th Rise, Kerarapon Drive, had been missing since Monday, February 16. His family says he left home at around 5 pm after receiving what they believe was a WhatsApp call from an unknown person.
How did Eric vanish?
Fred Ochieng told TUKO.co.ke that on the day he disappeared, Eric stepped out, appearing to be heading to meet someone within the neighbourhood, and never returned.
He was wearing an ash-grey long-sleeved round-neck T-shirt, dark grey sweatpants and sandals. As hours turned into days, his family’s concern deepened into fear.
Their worst suspicions were confirmed when a body was found along Ngong Road. The remains had decomposed significantly, suggesting Eric had been dead for several days before being discovered.
“We really don’t know who could have wanted Eric dead because he was a kind, loving, intelligent young man. He didn’t bother anyone,” Fred said, his voice heavy with disbelief.

Family’s unanswered questions
For the family, the unanswered questions are as painful as the loss itself. Why did he leave in such a hurry? Who called him?
And what happened between the moment he walked out of his home and the grim discovery on one of Nairobi’s busiest roads?
Friends and neighbours in Kerarapon have described Eric as quiet and respectful, someone who kept to himself and focused on his goals. His sudden death has left the close-knit community shaken.
As investigations continue, his relatives are now faced not only with the trauma of losing a son, but also with the haunting reality that he may have lain undiscovered for days.
What remains is a family’s plea for answers and justice for a young man they insist had no known enemies and whose life was cut short in circumstances that remain unclear.
Kenyan PhD Student Dies in UK
Elsewhere, the Kenyan medical fraternity is mourning the loss of a promising scholar and health systems expert after Prestone Ochieng Otieno died in the United Kingdom while pursuing his PhD in nursing in Portsmouth.
For many who knew him, Ochieng’s death is not only a personal loss but a blow to Kenya’s growing community of ph@rmaceutical and public health experts.
Colleagues describe him as a skilled systems expert and a registered pharmacist with deep experience in quality assurance, pharmacoeconomics, health systems strengthening, and supply chain management.
As news of his passing spread, Kenyans at home and in the diaspora shared messages of condolence, remembering a man many describe as brilliant yet humble, ambitious yet deeply grounded in service.
