Nairobi – Kenyans in several regions should expect to continue receiving rainfall over the next five days, according to the latest projection by the Kenya Meteorological Department.

In a five-day forecast, the weatherman projected that isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur in eight regions from Wednesday, February 25, to Sunday, March 1.
“Rainfall is expected to continue in several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall events are likely to occur in some parts of the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Coast, and Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya,” Kenya Met said.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley
The counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot will receive rains over several places in the mornings.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over several places, with night showers projected over several places. Maximum temperatures are expected to be 27°C.
Northwestern
The counties of Turkana and Samburu will receive rains over a few places in the morning between Thursday, February 26, and March 1.
Kenya Met has predicted showers and thunderstorms over a few places in the afternoon, with showers over a few places at night.
Maximum temperatures are projected to be 35°C, while minimum temperatures are at 10°C.
Highlands East of the Rift Valley
In Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi counties, residents have been warned to expect rainfall in the morning, afternoon and at night.
Showers and thunderstorms over several places are expected in the afternoon, with maximum temperatures predicted at 27°C and minimum temperatures at 10°C.
Northeastern
The counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo will receive rainfall on all days apart from Friday, February 27; they will experience sunny intervals in the afternoon.
On Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1, these counties will experience showers and thunderstorms over a few places in the afternoon.
South-eastern lowlands
Kenya Met projected that Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River county will receive rains over few places for the next five days.
According to the weatherman, showers and thunderstorms are expected over several places, with night showers over a few places.
The maximum temperature is projected to be 31°C, while the minimum is 15°C.
Coast
Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties, as well as the Tana Delta will receive some rain in the morning, afternoon and night over a few places for the next five days.
Maximum temperatures in the coastal region will be 33°C and minimum temperatures 24°C.

Did Kenya Met issue flood warnings?
Recently, Kenya Met issued an advisory to government agencies, including the Presidency, CS for Environment, National Intelligence Service, Red Cross, and other relevant bodies, to monitor the situation and coordinate emergency preparedness.
Residents in affected regions are urged to stay alert for potential floods and to avoid traversing flooded areas, whether on foot or in vehicles.
