PSK reacts to Gachagua’s trending clip
The Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK) has come out to condemn the chemist and its staff for breaching Gachagua’s right to privacy and healthcare confidentiality.
“Every person seeking medicines or professional advice is entitled to dignity, discretion, and protection of their personal health information. Confidentiality in healthcare is not optional, it is a fundamental ethical and professional obligation,” said the society in a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke.
They promised to investigate the matter further and take disciplinary action against the pharmacist if found culpable.
“At this stage, it is not yet clear which licensed professionals were present at the outlet in question. PSK is undertaking due diligence to verify the identity and licensing status of the outlet and the professionals involved so that appropriate regulatory steps may be taken if necessary,” read the statement signed by PSK president Dr. Wairimu Mbogo.
The society regretted the incident and promised to take the necessary steps to ensure that health facilities are managed by qualified and licensed professionals to avoid such incidents in the future.
“Regardless of public profile or status, every Kenyan has the right to confidential healthcare.
