The Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament died alongside Amos Kipngetich Rotich, an officer with the Kenya Forest Service, journalist Nick Kosgei, teacher Carlos Keter, and pilot George Were.
Initial reports indicate that poor weather and low visibility may have contributed to the crash. Eyewitnesses recounted that the pilot had initially landed and consulted over the weather conditions before taking off again moments later, only for the helicopter to crash shortly after.
The loss of the men has plunged the nation into deep mourning, with tributes pouring in from leaders, colleagues and families.

What plans did Nick Kosgei have?
Now, more WhatsApp conversations have surfaced, shedding light on Kosgei’s expanding ambitions beyond his role as a parliamentary photographer.
Nakuru West parliamentary aspirant Frankline Ngeno shared screenshots of private conversations dating back to July 2025.
In the chats, Frankline reached out seeking help to design a high-quality poster to declare his bid for the Nakuru West seat.
Kosgei responded positively, asking only for a clear photograph and the specific details to be included in the design.
In one of the messages, he hinted at how his communications work was growing:
“Okay, sir, as the job grew, I looked for a graphics person from the ministry.”
The message suggested that he had already begun expanding his operations by collaborating with other creatives to meet growing demand.
The conversation continued with Kosgei eventually delivering the finished poster, which Frankline expressed satisfaction with.
The surfaced chats painted a picture of a young professional determined to build a name for himself in the communications field, venturing beyond his primary assignment as the MP’s photographer.
His father even shared that Kosgei had been the sole breadwinner in the family, making his untimely death even more devastating.
The revelation added deeper context to his drive to take up additional projects and grow his brand.
Frankline mourned him as a dedicated and dependable professional.
“His dedication, humility, and loyalty will remain etched in our hearts. This loss is deeply painful, not only to his family and friends, but to all who knew and loved him,” part of his message read.
