Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has reacted after being removed from a key leadership role within the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition in the National Assembly.

The reshuffle was confirmed in a statement issued by Azimio coalition leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who said the coalition had resolved to restructure its leadership following a joint meeting of the Coalition Council and the National Coalition Executive Council.
What changes were made in Azimio?
According to the statement, the meeting resolved to remove Junet as the Leader of Azimio’s Parliamentary Group in the National Assembly and replace him with Suba South MP Caroli Omondi.
“The meeting further resolved to terminate with immediate effect the appointment of Junet Mohamed as the Leader of the Azimio Coalition Parliamentary Group and in the National Assembly and appointed Caroli Omondi to be the Leader of the Azimio Coalition Party Parliamentary Group and in the National Assembly with immediate effect,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo added that the leadership changes were made because some individuals were no longer active members of the coalition’s top decision-making bodies.
He further indicated that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party had convened the meeting and agreed that certain individuals had ceased being members of the two organs after taking up public office or joining rival political alliances.
Among those listed as having ceased to be members of the Azimio Council were Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho, nominated MP Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah, and Junet.
The coalition also named several figures who were removed from the Azimio National Coalition Executive Council.
They include Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, Adan Keynan Wehliye, David Pkosing, Mishi Mboko, Abdul Haji, James Opiyo Wandayi, Isabella Wangechi Githinji, Caroline Wanjiru Karugu, and Solomon Kuria.
The statement further indicated that replacements would be announced soon as part of what the coalition described as an expanded party structure.
How did Junet respond to Azimio ouster?
The outspoken legislator appeared unbothered by the decision announced on Monday, March 9, choosing humour over confrontation.
Shortly after the announcement, Junet shared an old viral meme on his X account, signalling he was moving past the development.
Despite the significance of the move, Junet’s response suggested he was not alarmed by the change.
Moments after the announcement circulated online, the Suna East MP posted a well-known meme dating back to 2016.
Junet appeared to signal that he viewed the latest development as just another episode in Kenya’s often turbulent political landscape.
Kalonzo replaces Raila in Azimio
Earlier, Azimio announced a major leadership reshuffle as the opposition prepared for the 2027 General Election.

The Wiper leader was appointed the new coalition leader during a National Executive Council meeting chaired by former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
During the same session, Caroli was named secretary general, replacing Junet with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, confirming that the meeting had been properly convened.
Kalonzo later acknowledged the appointment and thanked the coalition leadership and member parties for the confidence placed in him.
