According to the family, the former CS was scheduled to appear for an interview at Ramogi at 7pm on the same day he disappeared but never returned home.

“This morning while at church, Mano Tuju, Tuju’s son, got a call from Karen Police Station OCS informing him that Hon. Tuju’s car had been found abandoned on Miotoni Lane in Karen. Tuju and his driver were not inside the vehicle. Hon. Tuju’s phone is off, and he has not been seen since Saturday afternoon. He was scheduled to appear in an interview at Ramogi at about 7pm last night,” said Paul Nyamodi, Tuju’s lawyer.

Prior to his disappearance, Tuju had made a report to the police on Saturday that he had been followed on Friday, March 20, by a white Land Cruiser 70-series without a number plate. He made the report under OB 21/21/03/2026.

Following that discovery, a missing person report was filed at Karen Police Station under OB 17/22/03/2026.

Siaya Governor James Orengo confirmed the disappearance, adding that the car keys were left with the vehicle, and requested prayers from Kenyans.

At the time of publishing, TUKO.co.ke could not independently verify the claims.

Meanwhile, the former CS has been facing a legal battle regarding his property on Ngong’ Road due to alleged failure to repay over KSh 1 billion in loans to the East Africa Development Bank (EADB).

However, the lawyers stated that his disappearance is not related to the ongoing legal battle.

How did Kenyans respond to Tuju’s disappearance?

Jym Murungu Wa Fridah

“May He be safe… however, I keep thinking of how power is temporary; I remember how he used to be powerful in Jubilee.”

Joseph Musau

“I hope he will be found safe and alive. The week ending today was terrible for Hon. Tuju.”

Lenny Chege

“This is scary, and the problem is that those who you would expect to fight for him are laughing at him.”

Who targeted Tuju’s property in Karen?

Meanwhile, amid the case, Tuju claimed that he was being frustrated after he failed to sell his two multibillion-shilling properties to a powerful government official.

He alleged that his efforts to repay the loan were thwarted, making it hard to bring the case to a closure after nearly a decade.

In a letter to President William Ruto, the Luo Council of Elders suggested that EADB may be working to dispossess Tuju of the prime property rather than recover the loan.
