“He was holding the chemical as he walked towards her. When he got next to her, he immediately poured it on her face and took off,” he said.
The eyewitness added that the suspect had an accomplice who was waiting on a motorcycle, seemingly as the getaway rider.
When members of the public acted swiftly and caught the suspect, the man on the motorcycle fled in fear, abandoning Lukas.
The crowd cornered Lukas and attacked him following what he had done to Claire, demanding to know why he had carried out such a horrific act.
A video from the scene captured Claire screaming in agony and pleading for water to wash her face. Minutes later, the suspect was seen sitting on the ground with serious injuries sustained from the irate crowd.
During the commotion, Lukas allegedly confessed, saying he had only been sent to carry out the attack.
“As the crowd was beating him, his phone rang. He was forced to answer it and put it on loudspeaker. The man on the other end of the phone asked if he had finished the job. We were shocked and asked what job that was. He then grabbed the phone and smashed it on the tarmac,” stated the witness.
