Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced outages in parts of the country on Tuesday, March 24.

The company stated that the outages will be necessary for maintenance, upgrades, and new connections.

Residents in the affected nine counties, including Nairobi, Tana River, Bomet, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kirinyaga, and Nyeri, should plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

The scheduled maintenance will begin from 9am to 5pm in nearly all the listed areas.

Homa Bay

Area: Ogande, Wiga, Lorateng

Rabuor Masawa, Kabunde Airstrip, Arujo, county government offices, Maguti, Ogandi Girls, Wiga, part of Rodi, Ndiru Primary School, and Lorateng.

Bomet

Area: Kapkwen, Tarakwa, Makimeny (from 9am to 4pm)

Kapkwen Market, Kaproron W/Pump, Kiriba Kizito, Parts of Olbutyo, Makimeny Market, Tarakwa Market, Oldabach, and Chororoita Mengwet.

Nairobi

Area: Kamumbi

Golf Sports Ground and Karura Health Centre.

Area: Rapta Road

Raphta Road, Consolata Church, Lantana Road, David Oseile Road, Church Road, part of Mahiga Mahiru, St. Mary’s School, Ring Road Westlands, Rehema House, Oracle, Kipro Centre, and Waridi School.

Nyeri

In related news, two convicts were sentenced to 11 years in prison each after they were found guilty of vandalising Kenya Power equipment.

The two were arrested in July 2025 after their actions resulted in blackout in Elgeyo Marakwet and the neigbouring regions.

DCI welcomed the ruling, stating that the sentencing will serve as a lesson to other Kenyans involved in the criminal activities.
