Nakuru, Kenya: Protests have erupted in Gilgil following the mysterious death of a three-year-old pupil, Faiz Faraj, who was a pupil at Gilgil Hills Academy.

Faiz was reported missing around 11 am, and after a frantic search, he was found in a school fishpond at about 1 pm. According to the account of the school, the boy drowned, but his family is not accepting it, saying they were first told the child was sick before being informed of the incident.
The school alleged that the post-mortem linked Faiz’s death to asphyxia caused by inhaled water, but the family vehemently rejected the findings and claimed inconsistencies while demanding further investigations.

Autopsy contradicts Gilgil school’s account
The school claimed he died from drowning, while an autopsy report allegedly showed that there was no evidence of water in his body.
Social media users flocked to the comment section to console the bereaved family as they joined in seeking justice for the Nakuru boy.
On March 30, residents of the town took to the streets in anger, blocked roads and burnt tyres to express their fury over the death of the little boy. Additionally, some were chanting justice for Faiz, although the boy has already been buried.
A relative identified as Dickson Ndirangu maintained that the family was still demanding answers from the school management.

Boy dies at Chesamis Boys High School
In another story, David Simuyu, a middle-aged man who lost his son, blamed Chesamisi Boys High School for the alleged inadequate response to his son.
It emerged that Eugene’s medical emergency started in school, and Simiyu said Eugene Wekesa died in the hospital from a previously unknown heart condition, which was allegedly made worse by delayed access to medical assistance.
Simuyu has since urged schools to prioritise student health and act swiftly during emergencies to avoid more deaths.
