On Friday, March 27, Fiz Faraji went missing from class and was later found in the school’s fish pond.
His family disputes the school’s account of an accidental drowning, citing conflicting timelines and communication lapses.
A postmortem pointed to a lack of oxygen consistent with drowning, but angry parents protested at the school and sub-county offices, prompting police to fire teargas.

The Ministry of Education ordered a full investigation into possible negligence at the institution whose motto reads:

How much is fees at Gilgil Hills Academy?
Located in Gilgil, Nakuru county, off the Gilgil-Nyahururu Road, Gilgil Hills Academy is a private complex of five schools offering early childhood development, boys’ and girls’ boarding primary sections, and day programs.

Interview fees are KSh 2,000 for kindergarten and KSh 4,000 for primary students.
Annual textbook levies range from KSh 12,000 to KSh 25,000.
The termly tuition fees for kindergarten students are KSh 125,000. The total payments, inclusive of lunch, stationery and other levies, total over KSh 160,000 per term.
For students in years 1 and 2 of primary school, tuition is KSh 150,000, and rises to over KSh 200,000 with additional charges.
