Ojwang’s family visited Nevnina’s parents, where a colourful ceremony known as ‘nyombo’, in line with Luo tradition, was held.
Despite his absence, his family carried out every step of a traditional nyombo ceremony, officially making Nevnina a wife even in her husband’s absence.

The mother of one shared the news on her TikTok page, accompanied by a heartfelt caption expressing how deeply she felt about the ceremony.

She expressed both joy and gratitude to her late husband’s family for fulfilling his promise to marry her, even in death.
“A promise fulfilled even in absence. I’m deeply humbled and grateful to his family and friends for honouring our union. Love truly does not end, even in death. My heart is full of gratitude. I’ll always love you, Baba G,” she wrote.
She wore a beautiful off-shoulder green dress with black patterns, fitted with a black corset, completing a look truly befitting a traditional bride, paired with elegant black heels.
The young widow was also accompanied by her bridesmaids, who wore outfits made from the same kitenge fabric in different designs, adding colour and vibrancy to her special day.
Ojwang’s family were seen in photos bringing cows into Nevnina’s parents’ compound, where they were warmly and joyfully received.

His father and mother led the procession, showing unwavering love and support for their daughter-in-law, who was left widowed too soon following the death of their only son.
What happened to Albert Ojwang’?
Ojwang’ was arrested at his village home in Homa Bay County while having lunch with his family.
Police officers, who arrested him over allegations of posting a derogatory statement about a senior police officer, transferred him to Nairobi.
He died while in custody on June 8, 2025, with police initially claiming that he had hit his head inside the cell.
However, a post-mortem examination later revealed that the late teacher had suffered severe head injuries and had marks on his neck.
His case sparked national outrage, with many Kenyans rallying behind his family in their pursuit of justice.
