However, the outcome has sparked debate online, with many questioning whether the punch landed below the abdomen, an illegal move in boxing.
Mbavu was seen clutching his lower body moments after the strike, fuelling claims of a possible foul. He later disputed the outcome, alleging foul play.
Despite the controversy, Majembe walked away with multiple prizes, including cash and even a car.
What did Kanyari say about Mbavu’s loss?
Hours after the match, Kanyari addressed the issue during a church service at his Salvation Healing Ministries.
The preacher, who had publicly backed Mbavu before the fight and even prayed for him in a previous sermon, did not hide his disappointment with how events unfolded.
Kanyari also took issue with the organiser of the event, comedian Oga Obinna, warning him against planning similar matches in future.
In his words:
“Obinna, we do not even want boxing from you anymore. Obinna is wantam. We came here and prayed for Mbavu and I even gave him KSh 50,000. How is it that early in the fight he was already hit below the abdomen? Mbavu received one big blow, what are we going to tell the people? Where are we going to hide? We wanted Mbavu to win the fight but it was not his day,” Kanyari said.
