Khamete went missing for days before her death, and many people had been looking for her before they finally got a call that she had died and her body was found in Kisumu.
Before her untimely death at the hands of unknown assailants, the beloved college principal had told her dear mum that she had allegedly been getting threatening calls from suppliers who had been demanding their money, and yet she didn’t have it.

She confided to her mum that the county had allegedly remained mum on the issue of suppliers and their payments as well, and then she went to meet with a director; that was the last time they ever saw her. They next saw her body on the shores of Lake Victoria, and it looked like she had some injuries.
“They told us that Carolyne Khamete drowned and the water killed her, but during the post-mortem we did not see any water coming from her intestines or her lungs,” said her distraught dad.
“We took the body from the Kakamega County Referral Hospital Mortuary, and since then there hasn’t been any communication from the county office or the police. I’m wondering where to start from and where to go to, and I am asking the national government to help my child to get justice,” said the grieving man.
The county, in a letter from Governor Fernandez Barasa, shared their condolences and the kind of work that the lady was doing at the school but had not touched on the issue of the cause of her death nor the alleged threats from suppliers who were asking for their cash.
