Vihiga, Kenya: Residents from Vihiga county have joined Kenyans from all walks of life in condemning the tragic incident in Kisumu where their senator, Godfrey Osotsi, was sadly beaten by goons.

A CCTV clip shared online showed the Osotso having a meal at a cafe in Kisumu, and shortly afterwards, several very violent men entered the restaurant and started beating and gravely injuring him.
Osostsi was rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu and has since been airlifted to the Karen Hospital in Nairobi, where he is receiving treatment.
A woman wondered how a whole senator can be seriously assaulted in broad daylight, as people watched and then let them get away.

Why were Vihga residents stunned by leaders?
A man who spoke to Ajwang Junior TV said that he was saddened to see that his deputy party leader was assaulted by people who had allegedly been bought. He noted that the incident came in the wake of the Linda Mananachi brigade finding out that goons were allegedly waiting for them in Kisumu as they were heading to Kakamega for a rally.
“Senator came to this market at Munungo and did a good job. He used to walk with the late Raila Odinga, yet no one from the government has come to check on the senator,” said a lady.
“The young men are angry about what happened in Kisumu, and we aren’t going to like it in the future as well. We are mad that they hit him while on the ground. We want justuce for our son Osotsi,’ said another man.

Otiende Amollo, other leaders condemn assault
In another story, leaders led by Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) Otiende Amollo condemned the attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi by suspected goons in Kisumu.
Siaya governor James Orengo demanded police release him, and he was also mong the first people to reach the hospital to console Osotsi.
Edwin Sifuna and other leaders also came to the fore and condemned the young men for the vicious assault.
